Life Story for Kuttyamma Mathew

Kuttyamma Mathew entered her eternal resting place on May 21, 2018. She was born February 10, 1945 in Thuruthy, Changanacherry, Kerala, India to her late parents, Mathai Thomas and Rosamma Thomas. When she was just 8 years old her mother passed away and she was raised by her grandmother, Kathrina Thomas, and later by Kochamma (Pennamma). Kuttyamma married her late husband, Mathew Joseph Perincherril, on March 19, 1973. She immigrated to the United States in 1976, settling in Chicago, IL for a few years to help with the shortage of nurses during that time. The family moved to Oklahoma in 1983 where she served as a nurse at the Veteran’s Affair Medical Center for 22 years and also worked part time at the Children’s Center prior to taking retirement. Kuttyamma was beloved mother to her children, Jogi Mathew, Jerry Mathew and his wife, Susan Mathew, Janet Kuruvilla and her husband, Justin Kuruvilla. She often worked two jobs at a time to ensure her children would lack nothing in life. Kuttyamma is known as “Amma” to her five grandchildren, Jordan Kuruvilla, Joseph Mathew, Jenna Kuruvilla, Tyler Mathew, and Joshua Mathew. She was also a cherished oldest sister, known as “Icheyi”, to Mathew Thomas (Appachen), Celinamma Mathew, Kunjoojamma George, Joseph Thomas (Joy), Scariakutty Thomas (Kunjachen), and Betcy Varughese (Lizamma), as well as loving Aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She was a member of the St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Yukon for 32 years. She took every opportunity to donate her resources to multiple charities, orphanages, and the Thuruthy Catholic Church. She had a very compassionate heart toward those in need and considered it her duty to help those who are less fortunate. Kuttyamma is greatly missed by her surviving loved ones who will treasure every memory of her in their heart. We find comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of God.
